AKC is one of the oldest organizations for the registration of purebred dogs. They have very strict standards when registering a dog with them. This ensures you the new owner, that you are indeed receiving a 100% dog of the breed you have selected. The parentage goes back generations and you can receive a family tree of your dog from them showing the status of each relative i.e. champion, date of birth/death, DNA registration, OFA certification, etc. from a breeder in compliance with their strict standards. Kennels are regulated and paperwork must be available for full inspection to see they meet AKC standards or the breeder can be sanctioned.

CKC is a rather new to the arena of  of registering dogs and does not require the strict standards for registration to ensure you are getting a 100% purebred of the breed you have selected nor do they have the  genealogy data base and DNA requirements of the breeder. They do not encourage DNAing animals to check for genetic defects. They just are not as strict in their record keeping and a breeder can sell you a dog with a Bill of Sale saying the dog for example is a purebred chihuahua and that alone is enough for you to register your dog as a purebred with them. There are  just not all the safe gaurds to protect you the buyer from disreputable breeders out there.

It is your choice, but I would want to know My dog is free of Genetic Defects and is truly a Chihuahua, if I was looking to purchase one. Just remember there are very nice AKC registered pet and show quality dogs out there and you do get what you pay for as the saying goes.

I ONLY have and sell AKC registered dogs and pups. Do Your own research and You will see the difference this makes when purchasing a dog or puppy.VISIT the AKC Site (link included on this page) and you decide.

Chihuahua's that are bred for excellent temperaments and to breed standards. Home raised and pampered to be well socialized and paper trained. For your happiness and the pups well being, when available, I do NOT place pups before they are atleast 10-12 weeks of age.
